The Tyranny of Beauty investigates the model of female beauty imposed by society through mass media.
The emphasis on the idea that the body can be improved to perfection transforms women in passive objects. Celebrities are set as example of ideal beauty, and are used to reinforce this process.
To disrupt the current representation, I photographed everyday women as magazine covers. I also collected all covers from the main women magazines published in 2011 all over the world and displayed them in exhibitions in London in 2012.
